How did you start running?: 
After watching my father in law get fit and healthy for a Kidney transplant. It encouraged me to get fit and to raise money for Kidney Research Wales. Joined Lliswerry Runners to improve my running and reach a goal of running a marathon which i will complete in April.
Any message to newcomers?: 
Come and join a great club which will help achieve your goals. We are a friendly lot and will encourage everyone no matter how well you can run.

Decided one that enough was enough and had to get fit again.

<p>Turning 40 and had my girls I thought I would start to get my life back. I couldn&#39;t run up the road without stopping. I was more of a brisk walker. So thought if I signed up for a half marathon I would have to start learning to run. I went from nothing. I joined lliswerry running group. It was the best thing I have done. I have now done 3 half marathons, 5 10ks, Rack Raid. Rose inn relays. I am so proud of what I have achieved. Thank you lliswerry.</p>

Started doing C25k at Tredegar house parkrun and have never regretted joining

Starting running was a life changing thing for me and joining a running club was something I never imagined I would do best decision ever, thank you Lliswerry

Mr Gareth Barrington

How did you start running?: 
Started running back in 1994 just before I joined the Welsh Guards, and since I left the Army in 2006 I've always ran just to keep fit, but since joining Lliswerry running club I've taken my running to a whole new level
Any message to newcomers?: 
If your new to running don't be overwhelmed by experienced runners or a running club but just enjoy the benefits running can give, from physical fitness, mental health and the social side.

Sarah Lou Francis

Road, Trail and maybe a bit of XC
How did you start running?: 
I was always a bit of a gym bunny until Juliet Sidney introduced me to parkrun, within the year I'd ran my first half marathon. Then a few years later, after the start of Newport parkrun Juliet & Neil introduced me to this lovely club.
Any message to newcomers?: 
It really is a club for all abilities and interests. Whether you just want to improve your fitness, compete in competitions or run an ultra, there will be support and friendship for you in all areas.

What's your favourite running surface?: 
Cross Country and trail.
How did you start running?: 
<p>Ran cross country in school, subject to injury and several years on and off crutches. Then following watching London 2012, I just had to get back into it and searched for local friendly clubs, and following a recommendation I found myself with Lliswerry and haven&#39;t looked back since.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>Fantastic club with so much support for newcomers and very welcoming for runners of all abilities. The group structure to training means no one gets left behind and you can always develop and move up groups. Whether you&#39;re looking for competition or just social runs Lliswerry has it.</p>

James Pearce

Tarmac - definitely tarmac!
How did you start running?: 
<p>I had a bit of a health scare a few years ago and ended up in hospital. I was overweight, eating the wrong things and spending too long doing nothing! So I decided I had to change. bit by bit, I started running and I&#39;ll always remember how painful that first ever ParkRun was... but I stuck with it and look where I&#39;ve got to!</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>Try it... Don&#39;t worry about whether you&#39;re &#39;good&#39; or not.. everyone started the same way with one foot in front of the other...Who knows how far you will end up going... and there&#39;s no one more supportive than a Lliswerry Runner beside you!</p>

How did you start running?: 
<p>To get fit originally then I found i really enjoyed it! Joined Lliswerry mainly due to meeting so many friendly people from the club at Newport Parkrun.</p>
Any message to newcomers?: 
<p>I&#39;ve found Lliswerry to be one of the most friendly (if not THE most friendly!) clubs I&#39;ve come in contact with full of very supportive club members.</p>
